The Justice Society of America was the first superhero team in comic book history, representing a collective of some of DC's greatest heroes of the Golden Age, with a legacy that has lasted to this very day. However, in their first foray into the Arrowverse, this fan-favourite super team was pretty well butchered, with fans being treated to a JSA that was a shadow of its comic book self.

After being teased in the closing moments of Legends of Tomorrow's debut season, the JSA made their first full Arrowverse appearance at the beginning of the show's second season. However, despite initial excitement, many fans were left disappointed by what they saw. Consisting largely of legacy characters who had no place being in a WWII version of the team, such as Obsidian and Stargirl, this JSA completely lacked the charm and character of the comic book team. Rather than a shining homage to the Golden Age of Comic Books, they just seemed like another group of Arrowverse heroes in muted leather costumes. The worst part is that the group was clearly only used to introduce a new version of Vixen, despite the fact that she has never been affiliated with the JSA in the comics.

Still, at least now we have the Stargirl series to breathe fresh air into the Arrowverse and offer fans the live-action JSA that they actually deserve.
