12 DC Characters Who Were Wasted In The Arrowverse
5. Captain Cold
Ah, now this is where things really start to hurt and the frustration of what could have been becomes too much to bear.
In the first season of The Flash, a great amount of care was put into Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold, being shown as a truly charming and effective villain who shared great chemistry with the Scarlet Speedster. Although Eobard Thawne was the big bad of that debut season, Wentworth Miller was an absolute delight as the Master of Absolute Zero and we couldn't help but cheer whenever he showed up on screen. Snart was a perfect recurring adversary/uneasy ally who had a fascinating moral complexity, and it was clear that there were big things planned for him.
However, those plans were cut short when the Captain and his fellow Rogue, Heat Wave were shipped over to Legends of Tomorrow to serve as founding members of the Waverider crew. And while, yes, Snart did have a pretty prominent character arc in that show, ending with his death at the end of its first season, one can't help but help but wonder... was it worth sacrificing all that Snart could have brought to The Flash? Fans deserved to see Captain Cold's relationship with Barry Allen evolve, but as it stands it feels like it ended prematurely.
Of course, different versions of Snart have popped up since, but that momentum from the early days of The Flash has well and truly been lost, leaving the Captain out in the cold.
