Researching sexual response means that Masters and Johnson have to watch a lot of people having sex and/or masturbating as part of their study. This is shown on TV, as countless numbers are brought in to be examined and observed by them.

This may seem like the show has gone a little overboard in order to dramatically show how much research they were doing, but it’s actually pretty accurate. Over the course of their study, the pair observed 384 women and 312 men engaging in some form of sexual activity. All told, they viewed over 10,000 completed sexual cycles. That is a lot of sex.

No wonder they were the masters of it.
