4. John Malkovich - Crossbones

You know him from: Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Being John Malkovich (1999), Burn After Reading (2008) Having appeared in more than seventy motion pictures in a career spanning over thirty years, Academy Award nominated actor John Malkovich will be casting off in the appetising role of Edward Teach, better known by his alter-ego Blackbeard, the notorious pirate captain who terrorised the seas of the West Indies in the early 18th century. The ten-part NBC series will be penned by Neil Cross of Luther (2010) fame, and is based on the book The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodward. A fictionalised account of Blackbeard's life in 1715, Crossbones takes place on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas, a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws, and miscreant sailors. Richard Coyle plays Tom Lowe, an assassin sent to take down Malkovich's island king, but who is quickly seduced by Teach's charisma and political ideals. Also starring Claire Foy and Tracy Ifeachor.
