12 Moments That Have Defined The Last Decade Of Doctor Who

9. The Eleventh Doctor At Stonehenge (The Pandorica Opens)

Doctor Who is known for its inspiring speeches and the Eleventh Doctor had his fair share of them throughout his four year tenure aboard the TARDIS. His heartbreaking monologue at the end of The Rings of Akhaten probably springs to mind, as well as his "There's one thing you never, ever put in a trap" speech in The Time of Angels, but neither of those even come close to replicating the sheer scale of his powerhouse performance in The Pandorica Opens. To get you up to speed, all of the Doctor's greatest enemies had descended on Stonehenge to rid the universe of the Time Lord once and for all (just 'cause!) but, as expected, he wasn't going to go down without a fight. He took the opportunity to let them all know who really calls the shots around here and the scene is widely regarded as the moment Matt Smith well and truly 'became' the Eleventh Doctor, so to speak. Not that he hadn't been the Doctor for the rest of the series, of course, but every actor has one of those moments, once which sets them apart from their predecessors and affirms their presence as the universe's incumbent defender. For Matt Smith, this was definitely one of those moments. He instilled fear upon his most formidable foes using only his words and it will go down in history as one of Doctor Who's most inspirational statements. Just remember who's standing in your way.
