4. Merle Dixon
In the season three episode "This Sorrowful Life", Merle Dixon attempts to somewhat redeem himself for his previous actions by sparing Michonne's life and then going after the Governor - the man who turned him in to a killer and the scourge of the show's protagonist group - at his usual meeting place. In doing so, he ends up tussling with him and the Governor bites off his fingers before raising his gun and pointing it at Merle. Merle then tells the Governor "I ain't beggin'" before he is killed with a gunshot. Later in the same episode, Merle's brother Daryl Dixon is at the feed store (the Governor's aforementioned meeting place) when he sees a Walker feasting on a corpse. In one of the most emotional and heartbreaking scenes of the entire series run up to that point, he realises it is Merle and breaks down. Walker Merle attacks him, forcing Darlyl to stab him multiple times in the head whilst he cries.
