We never did find out what this thing was. It came in, and it stole a voice. It never had a shape, just a pair of terrifying eyes that seemed to bore through your skull. It came from a planet where no life known to people of the future could survive. It lived in light so dangerous it could reduce anything to dust. The planet was beautiful, filled with diamonds sparkling in the deadly sunlight. And the life that inhabited it came and immediately began to kill. Began to take minds, bodies, and voices from other people. All it ever had was their voices. That's it. But it managed to manipulate them, play on their fears, until a group of ordinary people proved capable of murdering and innocent man. With just a voice, it did that. And who doesn't love a good creepy couplet: We must not look at goblin men we must not buy their fruits who knows upon what soil they fed their hungry thirsty roots
