HBO's The Wire is a show with a lot of blood on its hands. The seminal crime drama was never afraid to bump off characters, but the sheer randomness of this one caught everyone by surprise.
Fans were under the impression that Omar Little was virtually untouchable. If he could jump out of a building and survive, there was nothing the streets of Baltimore could throw at him that would stop him in his tracks.
Perhaps most shocking was the way Omar met his maker, not by the hand of a cop or a gang member, but shot in the back of the head by young Kenard.
The character's choice of profession regularly put him in the line of fire, but fans hoped the strict moral code which separated him from most of Baltimore's criminals would keep him alive indefinitely, even when his reign as king of the streets had dwindled.
