12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Bojack Horseman

7. The Reformed Inmate

Despite BoJack often offering up a gut punch more than a hug, this time it’s a genuine feel good story. When Todd finds himself in jail, he witness a pretty brutal shanking by a bearded inmate with Willie Nelson style grey locks. Ultimately, jail is about rehabilitation rather than punishment, and on this inmate it worked perfectly.

We next see him working as a removal man; honest work in menial labour. A decent living, and often the best an ex con can really hope for. Returning to the animal puns briefly, we also see that he works for Ewe Haul.

If that was the last we’d seen of him, we wouldn’t really know much about his journey. Did he really go straight? Was that even him? By the third time though, there can be no doubt.

When Todd fails to show up for his triangle ‘solo’ in the orchestra in order to focus on himself, it’s a positive character moment. However, once we realise that one of the orchestra members is the same inmate who once worked for Ewe Haul, it became a positive moment for two characters in the show: quite rare for BoJack.
