12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Gilmore Girls

3. Shortcut To Sookie's

Stars Hollow is a compact little town, with a small population in which everybody knows everybody. It's made all the more quaint by how Lorelai and Sookie have the same home (although the camera trickery would like you to believe they don't). The exteriors of Lorelai’s house and the exterior of Sookie’s house are connected. It turns out that Sookie’s house is actually the back of the Gilmore home.

The show scratched the surface on this when Lorelai says she “knows a shortcut” to Sookie’s house and cuts around the side of their own house - the directing of the scenes makes their walk seem longer.

Furthermore, the entire town of Stars Hollow is designed to look like a real town when in fact, it's all part of a studio backlot - the same studio which is shared with Pretty Little Liars, Hart of Dixie, Riverdale and Dukes of Hazzard.
