12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
12. The Two Guys Who Dislike Hate Crimes
The gang from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have probably committed enough hate crimes for them to constitute their own WhatCulture list. With this being the case, it’s to be expected that they will, at least occasionally, be called out on their actions.
In the episode Charlie Has Cancer, a transgender woman by the name of Carmen approaches Mac from behind in the bar and taps him on the shoulder. Surprised and not having had time to give Carmen his coveted ocular pat-down, Mac immediately spins around and punches her square in the nose.
Two of the bar’s customers witness this happening and, presumably due to Carmen being trans, exclaim that it was a hate crime. They then chase Mac from the scene.
What you may not have noticed is that these two social justice heroes make a return appearance in an episode titled The World Series Defence. In this scenario, they see Charlie fighting the Philly Frenetic and question whether it’s a hate crime. They decide that it’s not but, unfortunately for Charlie, they also decide to beat the crap out of him anyway.
In a world where the Always Sunny gang exist, these kinds of vigilantes are probably a necessity.
