12 Things Doctor Who Has Taught You Better Than Your Parents

11. Books Are The Best Weapons In The World

A ravenous werewolf, intent on infecting the royal family with its feral disease, has the Doctor cornered and helpless in a library... wait... in a library!?! Oh, yes! The Doctor is armed and ready for any obstacle with his conveniently-placed arsenal of knowledge (conveniently-placed, meaning in the library, not in the Doctor's head, although he might have you think the latter). Teachers and parents constantly pester their children with the infamous command "Read!". The games are then subsequently shelved, the TV screen clicked off, and a towering, ominous-looking novel is opened before them. To experience forgotten days of the past, tread among the innumerable stars, or even make acquaintances with Shakespeare, you don't need a time machine. The most breathtaking universes - infinite in measure, yet small enough to snugly rest upon the palm of your hand - are encapsulated within books.

Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
