Episode: Season 8 - "A Milhouse Divided" (and many others) Homer's buffoonery, as suggested, is bearable because of the love he shows for his family. His kids are often the beneficiaries, especially the girls, but there is no person more beloved and doted upon by Homer Simpson than by his wife, Marge, otherwise known as the Patron Saint of Patient TV wives. For twenty-six seasons, Homer has been, well, Homer - and Marge has put up with him the entire time. That includes the time where he bought her a bowling ball for her birthday, and object that was clearly for him. It includes all his zany, destructive schemes. It includes going fishing at a marriage counselling retreat. Yet Homer unquestionably loves her, for all the grief he causes. Take "A Milhouse Divided" - when Homer is so concerned about the break-up of the Van Houten's marriage, and he and Marge's own rough beginnings, that he arranges a second marriage for them (complete with getting legally divorced from Marge to make it official).
