12 TV Deaths You Knew Were Coming (That Still Broke You)

10. Charlie Pace - Lost

Jon Snow Death
ABC Studios

Given that the show's very premise is about a bunch of survivors of a plane crash stranded on a mysterious island, Lost is a show that very rarely pulls the punches when it comes to its character's deaths and departures.

However, Charlie Pace's death in the finale of season three really outdid the show's standards for depressing. Having battled back from a life addiction and self-doubt, Charlie becomes one of the most loyal and likeable characters on the show as his time on the island goes on. Whether it be through his friendships with Hugo and Desmond, his paternal love for Aaron or his genuine relationship with Claire, he is one of the characters audiences most want to succeed whenever he appears.

Audiences are given a warning about Charlie's fate when Desmond begins to have premonitions about his death. All the preparation in the world wouldn't equip any audience member for Charlie's time does come to an end however.

Charlie goes out once again saving his friend, sealing himself in a room in order to keep the Looking Glass station from flooding. The scene then goes into slow-mo, then all sounds vanish from the room and audiences are left to brace themselves for one seriously tough watch.
