12 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

Ahead of its debut, it looked like Away was set to be a huge success for Netflix. With Hillary Swank in the lead role and impressive special effects, it had all the trappings of a big-budget movie. But in hindsight that right there may have been one of its biggest issues when it came to longevity, because it does feel like a plot more suited to a one-and-done story.

Though it did receive mixed reviews upon its release, they leaned slightly further in the positive direction and the show clearly resonated with a lot of viewers who appreciated how it chose story over sci-fi by prioritising its familial tale ahead of the genre conventions and impressive special effects. And though not everyone was a fan of the show, Swank's determined performance was praised for elevating the material she had to work with.

However, it may have just come out at the wrong time because its release got lost in the midst of juggernaut releases like Lucifer, Ratched and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Then again, it might just be another victim of the Netflix 2020 cull.
