12 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

8. Next

Black Lightning
Fox

Next had something of an uneasy time getting to air but the wait unfortunately wasn't worth it.

The Sci-Fi crime drama starred John Slattery in the leading role and centered on a homeland cybersecurity team as they attempted to combat a rogue AI system called neXt that had the ability to constantly rewrite itself to extinguish its weaknesses and grow its own intelligence. And if you've seen science fiction movies, you'll know that this is not a good thing.

The show was originally planned as a midseason replacement for Fox but when the ongoing global situation delayed the network's returning fall shows, it was held until the season kicked off and aired then instead. But it would only air two episodes before it was officially cancelled.

It isn't hard to see why the plug was pulled on Next. The show debuted to only 1.8 million viewers and even though it managed to retain most of them for its second, those numbers are rather low - even in today's world when less people watch live TV than before.

But Next wasn't the only Fox show to suffer this unfortunate fate...
