CBS

Northern Exposure originally aired on CBS for six seasons back in 1990 until 1995, and while it's been a long time since the show was on the air, it's about to make a comeback. Northern Exposure was a comedy-drama about an eccentric group of people living in a small Alaska town.

Talk of a revival or reboot began in 2016 when Darren Burrows attempted a crowdfunding campaign to start development of the series. The idea was to film additional episodes, which would have worked as a revival season of the original series. He used the working title "More Northern Exposure Now," but his efforts failed to achieve the $100,000 funding goal.

This didn't dissuade Burrows, who decided to continue working on the project. Between 2016 and 2018, David Assael worked on some scripts with the goal of airing a two-hour "visit to Cicely," which would be followed by a ten-episode season. By November 2018, the project received a go from CBS.

Development continues with Joshua Brand, John Falsey, and Rob Morrow attached as executive producers. There is no word as to whether or not Morrow would also return as Dr. Joel Fleischman. The project remains in development at the end of 2019, but it may come to fruition in 2020 or 2021, 25 years after the series left the airwaves.
