APB had so much potential to be a RoboCop-esque satire on the dangers of a private, hyper-funded police force, but instead it decided to take itself dead seriously, celebrating the high-tech, scarcely-regulated law enforcement with a proud fist pump into the air.

Though Weeds star Justin Kirk did fine work as the very Tony Stark-esque Gideon Reeves, the show's absolute refusal to lean into the troubling morality of its set-up ironically made it an unintentionally comical trainwreck.

With snoozy generic action sequences and reams of exhausting exposition, ratings halved in a matter of weeks and Fox axed it after a 12-episode season.
