6. Emerald City

Though it shouldn't surprise anyone that Tarsem Singh's vision of Oz is visually splendid and benefited from an undeniably game cast, Emerald City was ultimately an ambitious yet totally misguided failure.

The show's style and tone, surprisingly violent as it is, has been frequently compared to Game of Thrones, yet the political machinations lack the same intrigue, and it's simply that much harder to care about what's going on.

There's something to be said for Singh's style proving exhausting over the course of the season, especially if you opted to binge it in one go, because as grand as it often looks, the opulence also underlines the thin plotting and mostly empty characters.

Singh swings for the fences for sure, but with its clearly high cost of production and fast-evaporating viewer-base, it's not at all shocking that NBC canned the show after a season.
