4. Constitution-class
Key Appearances: Star Trek: The Original Series,Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country Probably the most iconic ship in the Star Trek canon, Captain Kirk's legendary U.S.S Enterprise was a member of the Constitution-class and the ship helped Starfleet develop into one of the major players in the quadrant. Designed for long-term exploration and diplomacy, the Constitution-class was the most advanced Federation design of its time, matching up well with competing Romulan and Klingon ships. The Constitution-class popularized the classic Starfleet design featuring a frontal saucer section, a lower primary hull and two warp nacelles in the back. The Constitution-class was the primary ship in one of the defining sci-fi shows of all time and has also featured in nine Star Trek films and is one of the most famous fictional vehicles of all time, earning it a high place on this list. Unfortunately for the Constitution, being iconic is not enough for this list and there are still three higher-ranking ships in the Trek universe.
