13 Badass Doctor Who Moments That Made Us All Cheer

1. Time Lord Victorious

A lot have been said about the amazing ending of Waters of Mars, and right now seems like that time of the day again. The Doctor met people in Mars that history dictates would die that very day, and after much back and forth in his mind whether to save them or not, he finally did, after all the pain and suffering of feeling helpless for not being able to save anyone finally pushed him to the breaking point. When all hope seems to be lost and the crew was dropping one by one like flies, he showed up like a merciful god, determined to save everyone. Convincing himself he had the right to do so. The thing is; the episode implies all through out that this would be big mistake, that the Doctor should never tempt faith. But the moment he came back, tense heroic music starts playing; as if the episode wants the audience to cheer him on. He did not have anything to gain, having equal chance of dying as the rest of them -- but when you looked at his face; you knew that was as far away from his mind as it could have been. All you saw was the refusal to admit defeat; refusal to feel helpless and not be in control. And with everything that happened to him in the past, the audience felt it to the core. It was not a question if he could do it, only if he should have done it a long time ago. If you look at the scene, it looked almost impossible that he had saved those people with what little resources he had to work with. While being trapped, he had to fight: a place that was falling apart, zombies trying to kill them, a crew member against him, and if that wasn't enough; infected water was everywhere when even one drop would have killed them. Wow! All that was stopping death from coming through was his quick thinking that was only a second quicker. And that, as we say, is badass.
