13 Badass Doctor Who Moments That Made Us All Cheer

11. Outsmarting Prisoner Zero

An escaped convict named Prisoner Zero was hiding in the earth using his shape shifting abilities to blend in with the humans. It's jailers, the Atraxi, are trying to retrieve him, and had threatened to blow up the earth if Prisoner Zero didn't show himself within minutes. What's bad was that the Doctor had just regenerated and was still collecting his thoughts on what kind of guy he is, all while the destruction of earth was assured within minutes. The TARDIS was a wreck and the sonic screw driver also gave out. The Doctor didn't pause, he just moved on and immediately reassess the situation. He goes with what he could, thinking literally on his feet and just develop a plan along the way. He borrowed a laptop and hacks into a secure meeting between leaders of the world who were trying to come up with something with the alien trying to destroy them. He then leaves the laptop not revealing to the audience what happened in the meeting. He confronted Prisoner Zero who was in the middle of a monologue that the Atraxi won't find him, but if he was going to die he would gladly take the earth with him. Turns out, while he was talking, all of the TV screens around the world were broadcasting the number 0 as a message to the Atraxi. It was being broadcast by the world leaders by the request of the Doctor. This had lead the Atraxi to the source of the message, which was a cell phone being held by the Doctor at that moment. The phone had pictures of every form Prisoner Zero had taken, meaning, the Atraxi had just found out what his current form was. The beauty of the twist of the message is that the audience didn't saw it coming and is a sign of the doctor's genius while thinking on his feet with little time to spare. He didn't save the earth with a deus ex machina or a convenient science fiction gadget, he saved it with ingenuity and everyday gadgets like laptops and cell phones, which made it a breath of fresh air. No TARDIS, no screwdriver, two minutes to spare... Who da man?... Oh, it's, I'm never saying that again, fine!
