13 Best TV Moments Of 2016 (So Far)

8. Jump - Stranger Things

Netflix

Stranger Things is the most recent show on this list, but already well worthy of its place. The latest obsession of anyone with a Netflix subscription, the show is a fun throwback to the 80s of Spielberg and Stephen King, while also a captivating mystery in its own right, including a few genuine scares and thrills, and an incredible cast of child actors.

Given that it's so easily binge-watchable, and those eight episodes will pass by extremely quickly, it's a show full of memorable moments. The opening of the show, with the kids playing D&D and then the chase sequence, is great, and in truth pretty much any scene involving the core of Eleven, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin is really enjoyable.

The best, however, comes in the sixth episode, The Monster. The bullies who Mike (with some major help from Eleven) humiliated are out for revenge, and not just making the kids pee their pants. Instead, a knife is pulled on Dustin, and Mike is forced to jump off a high cliff to the waters below. We're all waiting for El, who has gone off by herself at this stage, to reappear and save the day, and she does so in glorious fashion, suspending him in midair before bringing him back up to the ground. It's a wonderful display of her powers, and also of the friendship that has developed between the kids, which together make for a huge part of the show's appeal.
