13 Characters That Should Appear In The Supernatural Spinoff

11. Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler, the "Ghostfacers"

GHOST FACERS- EPLocation: Wherever danger lies! First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 17 "Hell House" Played by: A.J. Buckley and Travis Wester This duo of friends turned wannabe ghost-busters (check out their namesakes) are really a no-brainer when it comes to spinoffs, despite the fact that they haven't appeared on the show proper since the season 4 episode "It's a Terrible Life". Ed and Harry have had a kind of antagonistic relationship with the brothers off-and-on through the year; the Winchesters see them as sad little nuisances and have often thwarted their attempts at proving the existence of the paranormal. Despite that, the boys have sallied forth, first with the website "Hell Hound's Lair" and then the attempted reality program "Ghostfacers." They are also some of the few Supernatural characters to actually get their own web mini-series spinoff and a comic tie-in. Ed and Harry are obviously fan favorites, but they served a very specific comedic purpose during the Kripke reign and haven't returned to the show since. Recently A.J. Buckley set Twitter chattering with excitement when he alluded to the return of the Ghostfacers in season 9, although he later attributed this to wishful thinking. Producers shot this down by mentioning that story arcs aren't revealed prior to the season start, but one has to wonder if this would also apply to the issue of the intended backdoor-pilot for the Chicago show. The boys, who may also bring along Ed's adopted sister Maggie, would have plenty to offer a new show, and could likely serve a similar function to The Lone Gunmen on the X-Files, being a kind of back-up investigative help when traditional hunter channels dry up. Incidentally, last season opened a particular plot point that would suit the boys perfectly; the Men of Letters. While it's almost certain that Sam and Dean would never in a million years trust their grandfather's heritage and all the world's secrets to Harry and Ed, that might not stop the boys from becoming involved. With their experience and knowledge of paranormal lore, they would make a great team with this next character who knows the world of Supernatural as well as anyone not named Winchester...
