13 Despicable TV Villains Who Were Finally Delivered Justice

11. Trinity Killer - Dexter

John Lithgow may be known to a young generation of viewers primarily for his comedy roles, but back in the 80s, he was better known for his work playing psychopaths and thoroughly despicable individuals. It was a real treat seeing him return to that dark place as Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer in season four of Dexter.

He lives a double life as both a family man and a serial killer, and the first time we see him, he murders a young woman in a bath by cutting her femoral artery and watching her with a mirror as she expires.

One of the most interesting facets of his character is how curiously regarded he is by even Dexter himself, who is fascinated at his ability to avoid detection and to balance his family life with his, erm, extra-curricular activities.

In the final episode of the season, however, Dexter manages to capture Mitchell and kill him with a hammer, not before he offers an ominous warning that a similar fate may await himself. Mitchell ultimately gets the last laugh, however, having murdered Dexter's wife Rita earlier on and leaving her in a pool of her own blood in the bathtub. Grim.
