13 Earth-Shattering Doctor Who Moments From The Last 10 Years

8. Jackson Lake (The Next Doctor)

Not content with duping an entire nation just the once in 2008, the powers that be at Doctor Who (most notably Russell T Davies - *shakes fists*) still had one devilish trick up their sleeve before the year was out. Enter Mr Jackson Lake, the star of the show's fourth annual festival special who set tongues wagging when he burst on to our screens on Christmas Day claiming that he was our beloved Time Lord himself. Say what!? Suffice to say, the then-current Doctor, David Tennant, was just as confused as the rest of us when he came face to face with his supposed future incarnation in Victorian England and for a minute there it really did look like David Morrissey was about to step into his coveted shoes as time and space's new defender. As you'll all know, it eventually transpired that Jackson was just an ordinary bloke whose brain had been corrupted by a Cyberman's infostamp (to cut a long story short) but once again Doctor Who had reigned supreme through the art of deception. The Next Doctor remains as the second highest rated Doctor Who Christmas Special of the last decade and with a title like that, it was always going to create a stir.
