5. The Entire Cast of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Now a lot of my very best friends are total fan-girls so I experienced the hype leading up to this episode first hand. When I said I wasnt really looking forward to it because I knew they couldnt realistically top Asylum of the Daleks, one of my friends squealed in the middle of a crowded park and shouted, But its got Ron Weasleys dad in it! Although I was right in that Dinosaurs on a Spaceship was something of a weak follow up, not even I can deny how much hype was behind the various guest stars. In a world where a lot of DWs audience is made up of those brilliant fan-girls it was a genius decision to put Arthur Weasley, Filch and Lestrade all in the same place. I mean, who among the Whovian community doesnt watch Sherlock every once in a while? (Incidentally, every once in a while is actually Sherlocks production schedule). And what nerdy fan-girl hasnt picked up a Harry Potter book? Im pretty sure the girl who played Nefertiti was famous for something as well, but at the risk of sounding like Ive had my head in the sand my whole life, I didnt pick up on it. But no matter. Not only are the geek icons in the episode, but David Mitchell (the funniest comedian in the universe) and Robert Webb (the well David Mitchells comedy partner lets leave it at that) also make appearances. While they arent as memorable as some of the others around despite being considerably more exposed, it is impressive how Doctor Who managed to get an entire cast made up out of guest stars as well as managing to get away with not making it a cheesy gimmick. While you can say the episode wasnt the best, if we were to judge Doctor Who simply on guest stars, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship would get its own little label saying, This one was fairly pleasant.
