13 Most Shocking Breaking Bad Moments
2. Jesse Makes His Choice
Getting to Jesse on this list was inevitable. Like Walt, Jesse went through it all on the show. He was stupid, selfish and brash in his decisions. Unlike Walt, though, he was also the most redeemable "bad guy" in the entire show, a lovable kid who had been led astray but was actually really good deep down.
That said, he has been tested, and so have his fans with him.
In the thirteenth episode of Season Three, Jesse finds himself at a crossroads. With Walt working for Gus, aided by the odd and mild Gale, Jesse was out of the loop and Walt needed more control in his work. So, desperate to make himself irreplaceable, Walt orders Jesse to kill Gale so Gus can't touch them.
In one of Jesse's most heartbreaking moments, he goes to Gale's house and shoots him when he opens the door.
It's a massive turning point in Jesse's story, as his innocence slips further and further away. But killing Gale is more than just a moment to show audiences how broken Jesse has become; it's also a reminder (yet again) that Walt is the true villain of the show, a man with a fragile ego who wants to be the smartest in the room, regardless of how many people he hurts.
And watching Jesse react to his actions will never not break your heart.
