3. Mike Meets His Fate

Mike Ehrmantraut remains one of Breaking Bad's most complex and compelling characters, a grandfatherly man who is nonetheless a committed killer and fixer. He also helped Walt set up his drug empire, and was a close associate (or as close as you can get) of both Gus Fring and Saul Goodman.

In the first half of Season Five, Mike is pushed to the limit by Hank and Gomez's efforts to take him down for his crimes, and the old fixer decides to leave town. When Walt confronts him, Mike takes their farewell as an opportunity to blame everything that's gone wrong on Walt and his over-inflated ego, going as far as saying that if he hadn't killed Gus then everything would be all right.

He also refuses to give Walt the names of the men he's paying off to keep quiet about their work.

Enraged by his words, Walt uses Mike's own gun to kill him. It's Walt's most pointless and unnecessary act on the show, as he later admits that he could have just got the names off Lydia and that shooting Mike wasn't the best move.

Mike resigns himself to his fate and sits to watch the sunset as he dies. As he does, he tells Walt to "Shut the f*ck up and let me die in peace," before succumbing to his wounds and breaking hearts worldwide.
