For the most part, Deputy Standall took a back seat this season as the sheriff led the investigation instead. That said, he was technically part of its most pivotal moment (though he spent most of it off-screen) as Ani opened up to him about the events that went down in the lead-up to Bryce’s death.

Of course, being Alex’s father, his relationship with his son got a little more exploration this year, as he attempted to help him deal with some of his demons. And this ultimately saw him to go to the most extreme of lengths to protect his son.

From figuring out that it was Alex who killed Bryce, to helping the gang cover it up, Deputy Standall didn’t just prove that he was a far more efficient officer of the law than Sheriff Diaz ever was, he used the little screen time that he had to prove just how good a father he truly is. And, as always, Mark Pellegrino made it all feel so real.
