13 Reasons Why Season 4: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
8. Winston Williams
Winston arrived at Liberty High with one purpose: To expose Bryce Walker's true killer and confirm that Monty wasn't the one who did it. And he attacked that goal with the mysterious, intimidating and conniving approach you'd expect from someone portrayed as this season's antagonist.
However, that goal met its biggest obstacle when he inadvertently began falling for Alex and, in spite of the fact that they soon broke up, it further complicated things when he discovered that Alex was actually the one who killed Bryce.
Winston's arc actually played out pretty well as his love for the person who killed Bryce was what prevented him from getting what he perceived to be justice for another person that he loved. That conflict is nothing short of delicious and it presented the character with a real choice.
That said, it would have been nicer if we got to see him struggle with that choice a little more because he spent much of the second half of the season off-screen and only began to show up to do or say something antagonistic. As a result, we never really knew how he felt about Alex... not until the finale (when all was said and done).
