After spending the last three years fighting for his friends, atoning for past mistakes and trying to get the bottom of just about everything, it was fitting that 13 Reasons Why's final season placed the spotlight firmly on Liberty High's own hero Clay Jensen.

Clay's storyline this season revolved around his declining mental health because years of tragedy, stress and trauma were finally starting to get to him. However, through his therapy sessions with Dr. Ellman, he started to make progress over the course of the season.

Though not fully healed from the emotional scars he bears, the end of the season saw him achieve a modicum of the peace he had been craving for so many years as he was finally able to let the past rest in peace. It'll probably take him a lifetime to get over everything that happened, but with his friends and family by his side, his therapist on-call and the promise of a new romance at Brown, things are looking up for the troubled protagonist.

And in a moment that paid tribute to the conclusion of the first season, Clay rolled down the window of Tony Padilla's car and took a breath because he, Clay Jensen, had made it out of Liberty High.
