Some 30 years on from its publication, Watchmen remains one of the most beloved, important, and influential comic books ever made, and one there hasn't yet been a wholly satisfying adaptation of.

Zack Snyder's movie version received a mixed reception, so HBO are going to try and do better with their take, which is being spearheaded by Lost's Damon Lindelof.

While it still won't fix the issues with translating the story to a medium that isn't comics, TV should theoretically be a better home for it than film, with more time to tell the story. HBO can offer the budget to make it look great, and Lindelof has shown with The Leftovers he can deliver big, complex narratives to wonderful effect.
