A confirmed Nazi war criminal, Dr Arden performs some terrifying experiments on the inmates at Briarcliff and he is responsible for the creatures that run in the woods. By injecting and terrorising the patients, he has made them believe that they are animals when in reality, he has created zombified cannibals. His laboratory was off limits to other staff members so that he could maintain privacy for his torturous experiments. He also didn't believe in administering anaesthetic and therefore every incision and every injection was felt by his poor and defenceless patients. However, his worst experimentations were with Shelley. Shelley was committed to Briarcliff in an attempt to cure her of her insatiable hunger for sex. A known nymphomaniac, Shelley was able to seduce other patients and staff members at the institute and even Dr Arden wanted her and for her sake, laughing at his penis wasn't the best idea she ever had. With his ego humiliated and his deformed penis rejected, he becomes despicable and amputates both of her legs before injecting her with a virus that will hideously deform her entire body. She looks physically repulsive and could quite happily haunt everyone's nightmares for the rest of time. How Arden could inflict this kind of pain onto another human being is baffling and Shelley is only victimised because she's finally found one person that she doesn't want to have sex with.
