Just when you thought she was safe, it turns out that she was rescued by a man who hates all women and wants to kill himself. What are the chances? Why did he even pick Lana up in the first place? Stranded on the side of the road, Lana is desperate for anyone to help her put as much distance between Briarcliff and herself as she has just managed to escape from the institution. She is desperate to reach her girlfriend Wendy at this point and accepts a ride from a passing driver. The motorist rants to Lana about his deceitful, unfaithful wife and how every other woman on the planet cannot be trusted. Lana, being a woman, is clearly not at ease with this conversation. But no one was expecting the man to take a gun out and shoot himself in the head as the car is still running. The viewer, shocked and equally as disappointed for Lana to be trapped in a car with someone who she thought was a sign of hope was really a metaphor for putting her back in her place; both as a woman and back to Briarcliff.
