8. Enos And Mildred Fry (Roswell That Ends Well - Season 3, Episode 19)
The express crew accidentally travel back in time all the way to Roswell in 1947 and must find a way of getting back to the present before it’s too late.
Under the condition that he doesn’t alter the past, Fry gets the chance to meet his grandparents again but it is vital that he keeps his accident-prone grandad Enos alive in order to still exist. Enos is essentially a second Philip J. Fry and who doesn’t love Fry? He’s dim-witted but laidback and very friendly. The episode also toys with the idea that Fry’s grandpa might have been a closeted gay as he asks “Do you ever get the feeling you’re only going with girls because you’re supposed to?” as well as being more interested in the male pin-ups in a calendar rather than the female models.
As there are too many dangerous hazards that may kill Ennos, Fry locks him up a far away house only for that building to blow up. The impossible happens as he still exists despite his grandfather dying. The plot hole of Fry still existing is solved as in a both disturbing and hysterical twist, he changes his future and becomes his own grandfather. Grandma Mildred grieves the news and confides in him. Unaware of the fact that she is in the presence of her own grandson, she entices Fry to make love with her. Though reluctant at first, he gives in and the two sleep together. What's left is a lifetime of shame for Fry.
It’s a fantastic episode which gives us the chance to see more of Fry’s family and his background.
