3. Bourbon - President Bartlet Incorrectly Asserts That The Alcoholic Drink Can Only Be Called This If It Is Made In Kentucky
When Toby and President Bartlet get into a massive argument during "17 People" (Season 2, Episode 18), the latter stops for a second after asking the former if he'd like a drink and says:
"You know what I just found out recently? To be called 'bourbon' it has to come from Kentucky, otherwise it's called 'sour mash'."
This is not true though. Although it is strongly associated with the American South, and more particularly Kentucky, there are no geographic criteria for what qualifies as "bourbon whiskey". There are eight determinants for what qualifies as bourbon, but none of them are to do with geography.
