14. Show Me Going (Season 5, Episode 20)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Box Jake Holt
NBC

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is first and foremost a comedy, but every now and again the writers like to take a step back and remind audiences that it's also a police procedural show. In this season five gem, the precinct is rocked by the revelation that Rosa has been caught in a shoot-out, and her friends try to grapple with the news.

In the space of twenty minutes, Jake attempts to make himself useful around the building, Terry and Charles grapple with their increasing worry, and Amy and Gina try to fix a broken toilet with equally hilarious and bittersweet results.

Show Me Going perfectly shows how great Brooklyn Nine-Nine is at balancing the serious with the jokes, and allows each member of the core gang to really grow from their shared experiences.

Plus, Rosa shows her affectionate side to her friends in the end, and that's just something you always love to see.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool.
