15 Best Companions In Doctor Who History

6. Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill)

Amy Pond's hen-pecked husband initially seems to be her doormat during their first appearance in The Eleventh Hour. But first appearances can be deceptive.

Rory Williams calls it as he sees it and is utterly devoted to Amy, though it appears at times she doesn't deserve him. There are several notable Rory moments. In The God Complex, for example, everyone except Rory has faced their worst fear lurking behind hotel room doors. When The Doctor asks him why, Rory responds that he's already faced his worst fear. Rory famously dies several times, not to mention the fact he waited 2,000 years for Amy to reawaken inside the Pandorica.

When he dies for the final time, with no come back, in The Angels Take Manhattan, Amy's love for him is so strong that she abandons a devastated Doctor to be with her husband. Amy and Rory together, like it should be.
