15 Best Futurama Episodes
14. The Luck Of The Fryrish (Season 3, Episode 4)
For a long time, Fry's past life was always treated like a running joke. It was made clear he hated his life in the 20th century, and that being frozen for 1000 years was the best thing that ever happened to him.
It was an interesting development, then, when season three's The Luck of the Fryrish revealed a series of game-changing secrets about where Fry came from, and what happened to him after he was gone.
Not only does the episode reveal that Fry has a previously unmentioned brother, but that once he was frozen his absence left a big mark of his brother for the rest of his life.
The episode isn't without its jokes - the mockery of the Breakfast Club soundtrack is a particular standout - but in the end its strength lies in its final dramatic gut-punch, which is about as powerful as anything the show's ever attempted.
