There's a lot that goes on in this season two gem, and it's all brilliant, balancing the show's odd humour with its ability to move and surprise seamlessly. At its core, this is an episode in which Barney gets called "Swarley" after someone writes his name incorrectly on a coffee cup. This leads to some of the show's best humour (including a dig at fellow sitcom Friends).

Underneath all the typically silly but fun jokes, Swarley also sees Marshall go on his first proper date since his season one break-up with Lily, only to realise that he doesn't want to move on, he wants to be back together with Lily.

So, whilst it's funny and off-the-wall, it's also one of the show's most heartfelt entries, complete with a long awaited reunion that hits all the right notes.
