15 Best The Simpsons Songs Ever
12. The Mediocre Presidents
The Mediocre Presidents is arguably the least memorable song on this list, but that’s only because it’s woefully underappreciated. It comes in I Love Lisa, best known for the I Choo Choo Choose You card and Ralph’s stirring performance as George Washington.
The song might have been wedged in to fill two minutes of plot, or else may have just been the result of the writers having fun with what they could do with the Presidential Talent Show. Regardless, it’s one of the best testaments to the quality of writing staff the show once had.
It manages to be educational and funny at the same time, which is no mean feat. And when the subject matter in question is the likes of Millard Fillmore and William Henry Harrison, that just makes the achievement all the more impressive.
It’s catchy enough, but it’s just too short and disconnected from the rest of the plot to really carve its place into Simpsons history. Still, it’s a great little number and worthy of standing with the best of the rest in the Simpsons songbook, even if it doesn’t quite make the top ten.
