Appeared in: Dirty Girls - Chosen (Season 7, Episodes 18-22) With the aforementioned First as the Big Bad of Buffy's final season it was a risk that the Slayer would not have an actual villain to go toe-to-toe with. In the last few episodes, however, someone appeared to solve this problem; Caleb, the defrocked priest and vessel for the First's strength. Not only did he serve as someone for Buffy to fight but he also turned out to be one of the series' most twisted villains. Played by fan favourite Nathan Fillion, Caleb was a murderous misogynist who believed all women were the spawn of Satan. Of course, he was working for the Devil himself but that didn't seem to bother him. Out of all the nasty people in the world, the First hand-picked Caleb to be its right-hand man. It even 'gifted' him by taking the forms of all the young women he had killed just so he could kill them again. Real nice guy. As the show was bowing out anything was possible so unlike most villains in Buffy all bets were off on whether Caleb would harm either the Slayer or her friends. And - spoilers - he did. Apart from killing a number of the Potential Slayers Buffy commanded he blinded loveable old Xander by gruesomely driving his thumb into his eye socket. In this way, Caleb was like an unruly firework, going off at the end of the series, which is why he gets such a high placement on this list.
