15 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2021

14. Barbara Shelley

Helen Mccroy Doctor Who
BBC

Barbara Shelley's list of genre credentials is absolutely insane.

Her only role in the Whoniverse was as Sorasta in the 1984 Fifth Doctor serial Planet Of Fire, but that aside, she's appeared in Blake's 7, The Avengers (that's the 1960s TV series kids, not the blockbuster movie franchise), and The Man From UNCLE.

She also starred in various Hammer horror films throughout the 1960s, such as Dracula: Prince Of Darkness (opposite Christopher Lee as the title character), Rasputin The Mad Monk, and Quatermass And The Pit.

She passed away on 4 January, at 88 years of age.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
