15 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2021

13. James Greene

James Greene may not have spent much time in the Whoniverse, but his powerful voice made that time instantly memorable.

Greene kicked off the Series 7B premiere The Bells Of Saint John, playing an abbot at the monastery where the Eleventh Doctor is lurking. He shares the screen with Matt Smith for a handful of seconds, before delivering a great speech about Clara Oswald - who he refers to as "the woman twice dead".

Elsewhere, he has a massive list of movie and TV credits, including the Robert Downey Jr-led Sherlock Holmes, Johnny English, Holby City, and Merlin.

He passed away on 5 January, at 89 years of age.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
