15 Greatest American Horror Story Characters

American Horror Story Dandy Mott

Though Twisty the Clown was one the most terrifying antagonists in all of American Horror Story, he wasn't the big bad of Freak Show. That title belongs to Dandy Mott, the character portrayed by Finn Wittrock in his series debut.

Dandy was not a complex villain like Twisty, nor was he tragically misunderstood or wrongfully persecuted. No, instead, Dandy was simply a spoiled brat who had grown up never hearing the word 'no' from his mother, expecting the rest of the world to treat him the same way. Before Freak Show, he had never met a problem he couldn't solve with either money, or a tantrum.

The despicable villain is one of the most hated characters in the history of the show, something that as an antagonist is a credit to Wittrock’s performance. Particularly when you consider he is still able to stand out as a strong villain amongst the likes of Twisty, Dell Toledo, Stanley, and Maggie.

After Twisty's death, it is Dandy that continues his legacy, finding a haunting purpose in torturing the children, blissfully unaware of the true motivation behind the clown's actions. That just sums the villain up a nutshell - completely unaware of everything but his own self-interest.
