15 Greatest BoJack Horseman Episodes Of All Time

3. Stupid Piece Of Sh*t (Season 4, Episode 6)

BoJack Horseman The Showstopper
Netflix

In what might just be the best representation of living with depression ever put to TV, Stupid Piece of Sh*t takes a deep dive into the psyche of BoJack Horseman himself.

The events of the episode are actually pretty standard, with BoJack tormenting his mother and going out with Mr Peanutbutter, but the whole thing is overseen by the voice in BoJack's head, telling him he's no good, that he's worthless, stupid and means nothing to no one.

The episode is a vivid, emotional assessment of what it's like to live with mental health problems, and along the way gives more insight into BoJack's relationship with his mother and why he is, after so long, reluctant to change his ways. That voice follows him around, beats him down, and because of it he's simply resigned to his life.

An experimental voyage into the title character's twisted mind, Stupid Piece of Sh*t is elevated to greatness by its haunting visuals and stellar voice work, and deserves to be seen by everyone who wants to understand what it's like to live with depression.
