5. Luke Cage
Airing: TBC Another show in Marvel's five step programme to dominating Netflix's comic book adaptations market - which starts with Daredevil - Luke Cage will star Halo: Nightfall's Mike Colter (also seen as Will Smith's dad in Men In Black 3 for anyone keeping score) and will stream simultaneously heading into 2017. Marvel have confirmed that they want to space their shows out by a year each, and AKA Jessica Jones will come first - no doubt introducing Cage as an in-universe character. The character was initially a blaxploitation figure, but symbolically cast off some aspects of his origin in the '90s before a rise in popularity was aided primarily by the work of Brian Michael Bendis - particularly for New Avengers. If all goes well with the TV show, perhaps he's a potential future leader for Marvel's "main team". The Selling Point: Cage's backstory - and his seemingly eternal rage at it - is a compelling story to tell, and it's always a good thing to see diversity, even if this clearly isn't a case of tokenism thanks to the strength of the source. Concerns: If Colter pushes too far down the path to Mr T (same backstory), it will be a catastrophe.
