15 Mind-Blowing Facts About Prison Break

2. Scenes Were Shot Inside John Wayne Gacy's Old Cell

Many of the shots from the show were genuinely filmed inside a prison, with the maximum chill-factor coming from one particular cell that once belonged to the famous serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. It was to be occupied by Lincoln throughout the first season, and there were even reports that some crew members felt uneasy and didn't even enter the cell, though Purcell claimed it was the best place for his scenes to be shot. Gacy was convicted of 33 murders and a string of other violent felonies, with many of his crimes committed using tricks that he learned as part of his Pogo the Clown character routine he'd use at children's birthday parties and fundraising events. He'd trick victims into donning handcuffs when they were alone before brutally murdering them.
