10. She Joined The Red Lantern Corps

Being a teen girl has obviously given DC Comics the chance to explore some interesting ground with Supergirl over the years, though it perhaps wasn't until her most recent series that the kind of emotions which come with being this age and losing your home planet were really addressed in a significant and meaningful way. After being attacked by Lobo, an enraged Supergirl - who had just failed in her quest to bring back Krypton - unleashes the full force of her powers and kills the assassin. This leads to one of the Red Lantern Corps rings being drawn to her, and Kara is subsequently transformed into an insane rage driven monster who flies through the Galaxy killing anyone in her path. After been captured by the Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan sends her off to Guy Gardner (a former Green Lantern now in charge of the Corps powered by Anger instead of Will) who manages to restore Supergirl's sanity and induct her into the Red Lantern Corps. This short-lived new dynamic for the character was an interesting one, and rather fitting considering the fact that Supergirl is well known for being unable to control herself and hold back during a fight. Seeing her deal with her grief through rage also made for an interesting way to approach the character's well-known back story.
